"Photography is Just About Pressing a Button" 

Ah, yes, the classic “button-pressing” myth. If only capturing a perfect shot were as simple as pressing a button, my camera would be a magic wand, and I’d be living in a castle made of gold prints. The truth is… photography involves a dash of art, a sprinkle of science, and a whole lot of patience. 

Every image you see is the result of careful planning, lighting, and composition. We spend time scouting locations, arranging props, and sometimes even doing a little rain dance to get the perfect weather. And when the shoot is over? That’s when the editing magic happens, which involves more than just slapping on a filter. Think of it as sculpting a marble statue—except with pixels. 

"A Good Camera Makes a Good Photographer" 

Let’s get one thing straight: having a fancy camera doesn’t automatically make someone the next Ansel Adams. Sure, a good camera helps, but it’s just one tool in a photographer's arsenal. Imagine giving a top-of-the-line guitar to someone who’s never strummed a chord—don’t expect to hear a rock anthem!

The reality is that photography is a competitive field that requires dedication, perseverance, and a never-ending desire to learn. It’s not all sunshine and perfectly posed models; it’s late nights, early mornings, and sometimes, wrestling with uncooperative lighting. 

While it can be incredibly rewarding, building a successful photography business takes time and effort, heck, I’ve been doing this for over a decade, and I still learn new things every day. It involves juggling shoots, editing marathons, client meetings, marketing, and yes, the occasional existential crisis. But at the end of the day, nothing beats the feeling of capturing a moment that truly resonates with someone. 

"Photographers Only Shoot Weddings and Portraits" 

While weddings and portraits are certainly popular, we photographers have many more strings to our bows. After participating in various workshops & photo walks, I have experienced so many personalities & styles of other photographers.

So, the next time you meet a photographer, ask them about their niche—you might discover a whole new world through their lens.
