2024: A Year of Bold Moves, Big Wins, and Beautiful Moments
Wow, where do I even begin? 2024 has been a year of transformation, growth, and stepping boldly into the life I’ve always dreamed of. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions, challenges, and incredible moments—but one thing is certain: I’ve never felt more aligned with my purpose.
Let’s rewind to January, where it all began. After months of feeling trapped in a corporate job that drained my energy and stole my peace, I made the leap. I quit. The pay was no longer enough to justify the toll it was taking on my mental health and happiness. With shaky hands and a hopeful heart, I stepped into the unknown, relying on savings and sheer determination to navigate those first few months. And let me tell you—what a gift that time turned out to be.
I poured myself into my family, soaking up moments with my kiddos that I had missed for far too long. And then I turned my focus to a dream that had been quietly waiting in the wings: Aesthetic Portraits. What once was a part-time side hustle became my full-time passion, and by March, things were in full swing.
From couples’ portraits that celebrated love to branding sessions that empowered fellow entrepreneurs, I was finally doing what I loved, full-time. The energy, the creativity, the connections—it was exhilarating.
This year was also full of firsts. I partnered with the Alabama State Games to capture powerful moments in sports and community events. Then, in June, I had the incredible honor of photographing Ms. Cadence Baker’s first arena show! Cadence, a top 14 contestant on American Idol, blew us all away with her talent and determination, and capturing her journey through my lens was unforgettable.
On the community front, I’m thrilled to have partnered with Arts Trussville, sponsoring the Gateway Art Festival, and worked alongside First Baptist Church Trussville to create memorable holiday events. Building these connections has been so fulfilling, and I know 2025 will bring even more opportunities to make an impact.
Another dream came true this year: I expanded Aesthetic Portraits to include studio photography. For years, I dreamed of creating magic within the walls of a studio, and now it’s a reality. While I’ll always love the beauty of outdoor and on-site locations, there’s something about the studio that feels like home—a creative haven where the possibilities feel limitless.
One of my proudest accomplishments this year was launching a 1:1 mentorship program. So far, I’ve had the privilege of guiding three budding photographers, helping them sharpen their skills and find their unique voice in the industry. This has been so rewarding, and I can’t wait to expand the program with workshops, photo walks, and other creative collaborations.
Alongside the mentorship program, I also launched The Creative Corner, a space where fellow creatives can find inspiration, guidance, and community. It’s been an exciting new chapter, and I’m eager to see it grow into a hub for dreamers and doers.
This year, I also unveiled something that has been close to my heart for a long time: Aesthetic Expressions—my new merchandise store! This extension of services allows clients and art lovers to purchase my work in exciting new ways. From fine art prints to industry-themed merchandise for photographers, this store has been a way to share my creativity beyond the lens. Seeing my designs come to life as tangible pieces people can enjoy in their daily lives has been beyond rewarding.
Throughout 2024, I’ve explored new interests and shifted my focus from primarily photographing families to capturing more couples and individuals. While family sessions will always have a special place in my heart—especially in the studio—I’ve leaned into my passion for capturing intimate moments with couples and individuals. There’s something magical about showcasing connection, passion, and vulnerability through portraits, and it’s a journey I can’t wait to continue.
